#tendaychallenge - 5. Midnight sun in the far North

aphillipsarts

Staying with the themes of 'North', and music, today's dip into the archive comes in the form of a video/music piece filmed at midsummer, in arctic Norway, 2012.

I have always felt drawn to the north, and incorporate this into my work both in terms of a sense of vast, distant, mountainous lands, and also as the sacred liminal place between the natural and supernatural, transformative meeting place of human and divine.

For my first ever solo wild-camp it seemed like a good idea to pack my bag and go to Tromso, where I stayed for several nights high above the town, and then moved on to the nearby Lyngen Alps. This was an incredible experience, and I returned the next year to almost exactly the same locations.
